A 44-year-old man from Orange who allegedly made threats against Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan is behind bars in Jefferson County.
Special agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested Daniel Leblanc on Wednesday in Orange for terroristic threats made on multiple social media platforms.
The charge is a felony offense, according to information from DPS.
Leblanc was later extradited to the Jefferson County Jail, where his bond is set at $500,000.
“This is an active and ongoing investigation, and no additional information is available at this time,” according to information from DPS.
The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office did not immediately comment on why Leblanc was extradited from Orange County.
A spokesperson said information would be released at a later time.
