My name is Cory L Mitchell and I am officially announcing my candidacy for Bridge City Independent School District School Board-Place 7.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
My wife, Jennie, and I moved to Bridge City in 2013 after the birth of our son. Since moving to Bridge City, we have welcomed our daughter and both of our children now attend Bridge City Elementary. We chose to move to Bridge City due to the excellent reputation of the school system along with the close-knit, small-town feel we got from the many people we encountered while visiting around town.
Originally from Nederland, Texas, I graduated from Nederland High School in 2003. I attended Angelina Junior College and later graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont where I obtained my Bachelors of Applied Arts and Science. For the past eleven years, I have worked in the petrochemical industry in many roles starting as a contractor doing maintenance then hiring into an operations position. Currently, I work as a Day Tech/ Maintenance Coordinator.
Throughout my life, I have always been drawn to help others and to serve my community.I began volunteering at a young age and have always felt that giving one’s self and being an active member of your community is vital to a person’s growth and well being. I am a past board member of the Nederland/Port Neches Evening Optimist Club, volunteer for the Shriners Hospital for Children, Holtzclaw Foundation, YMBL, Nederland Heritage Festival and many other organizations.
Given the chance, I would be honored to serve our community as a member of the BCISD School Board for Place 7. I hope I can earn your vote on May 2nd.
