LifeShare Blood Center Reaches Critical Blood Supply Level

Published 7:38 pm Friday, January 3, 2020

BEAUMONT, Texas— The blood supply has reached a critically low level, and there is an immediate need for all blood types. January is National Blood Donor Month but donations dropped significantly during the last week of December and the beginning of January and now the use of blood has exceeded blood donations.  The result is a less than one day supply for nearly all blood types and components. To serve our communities and hospitals, LifeShare Blood Center strives to keep a three day’s supply on hand. A three day’s supply of blood allows for weather-related issues when blood cannot be collected, increased demand due to large accidents involving multiple trauma patients or times when several patients are having emergency surgeries and requiring many units of blood.

Blood donors are urged to take 45 minutes out of their day and donate blood at the local center or a mobile drive.  The community can donate at the following locations.
