PRESS RELEASE — I’ve been out of town a couple days. Big thanks to Chief Deputy Cynthia Hall for taking up the slack. This office does a lot better when I’m gone. Thanks to all the guys and girls here.
We got a break on the missing person back in November 2017. (Randy Holmes). Due to a lot of work by Chief Deputy Cynthia Hall and Newton Police Chief Will Jackson, his remains have been located. Big thanks go out to the FBI Evidence Response Team for all they did. Still lots of work and investigation to do. It’s our opinion that foul play was involved in Randy Holmes death.
Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office wanted help locating some stolen property. Chief Cynthia Hall located a Generac Generator and other stolen items. Officers of Louisiana called thanking her. Good job Cynthia.
We had an officer with Newton Police Department got into a pursuit. All officers on deck. Nobody hurt but damage to the officer’s patrol unit. Great job by all officers involved. One subject goes to jail.
We received a report of a stolen backhoe. The tractor had a GPS tracker on it. We got it recovered over in Louisiana. GPS trackers work great.
Last week I reported Deputy Blueitt recovered a stolen 4-wheeler and other items. Adding to that, we recovered a tractor, two campers and a trailer full of other items. Over $100,000 worth of stolen items. All this was stolen from Newton County. Great job Blueitt.
Received a call where a man called and needs an ambulance. No Police. Seems he fell on some broken glass and cut his foot and hand. He insisted an ambulance and no police. He did admit he had been drinking.
We had so many calls about gun shots near houses. All the calls were about hunters. Please be careful when shooting. Nobody hurt as of yet.
Gotta go. Thought for the week: If there were no God, there would be no atheists. Ya’ll have a great week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
