ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Bobcats dropped a nail-biting 60-59 District 22-3A decision to the Buna Cougars at Bobcat Gym Friday night.

Cougar Alex Connell hit the game-winning basket with 10 seconds remaining as the Cougars improved to 4-1 in 22-3A play to take sole possession of second-place while the Bobcats are now 20-6 overall and 3-2 in district play.

The Cougars were hot in the first half, building a 37-24 cushion by intermission. However, the Bobcats clawed their way back with a 22-13 spurt in the third period and actually gained the lead before Connell’s heroics.

Guard Coy Bryant led the Bobcat attack with 20 points and buried six three-point bombs.

Post Valentin Catt chimed in with a double-double, scoring 19 points and snagging 12 rebounds.

Cade Prejean added 10 points and four assists for the Bobcats, who will travel to Hardin Tuesday.
