A wreck involving a garbage truck and a small white vehicle, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Monday, has shut down MLK at Interstate 10 as police investigate the scene.

At this time, it is believed the vehicle struck the garbage truck.

Air Rescue was called but unavailable to transport the injured.

A worker on the back of the garbage truck was transported to the hospital via ambulance. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

The driver of the car is also injured but the person’s condition is unknown at this time.

The road will remained closed until the scene is cleared and officers complete the investigation.
