PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 12:30p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash at the intersection of SH 62 and CR 3139 in Newton County.  The crash involved a commercial motor vehicle.

Initial reports indicate that a 2008 Volvo dump truck was traveling southbound on SH 62.  The dump truck slowed to make a left turn onto CR 3139 when his vehicle was rear-ended by a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The driver of the Ford, 60-year-old Mark Anthony LeBlanc of Port Arthur, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the Volvo dump truck, Bobby O’Neal, 63, of Buna, was not injured in the crash.

LeBlanc was issued a traffic citation for failure to control speed.

State Highway 62 was closed for about an hour, but has since reopened.
