AUSTIN – A solid Orange County track season wrapped up Saturday at the University of Texas as Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Eli Peveto and Christian Weatherly competed in the Class 4A State Track & Field Championships.

For the second day in a row Peveto barely missed out on a medal.

The junior finished fourth in the 3,200 meters and nabbed fourth again Saturday in the 1,600 meters.

Peveto ran a solid time of 4:28.29 to earn fourth. San Elizario’s Edwin Gomez took first with a time of 4:23.14. Kaufman’s Christian Rivera was second with a 4:23.69.

Melissa’s Judson Greer was third with a 4:27.00, just a second and a half ahead of Peveto to take the bronze medal.

Weatherly finished six in the 4A Boys triple jump, going 45-2. Sealy’s Tyrek McNeese was first with a leap of 47-11 ¾.
