HUNTSVILLE — Going that extra mile.
That is what Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Eli Peveto and Orangefield’s Madison Helm have done all season long.
Well, with all of their stout effort, both have advanced to the Class 4A State Track & Field Championships after winning the 3,200 meters Thursday morning at the 4A Region III Track Championships held at Sam Houston State University.
Helm keeps upping the ante.
After lowering her season-best time to 12:09.86 at the Area Meet last week, she torched the track at Bowers Stadium as she destroyed her previous best time by a whopping 28 seconds. Helm blistered to a time of 11:41 to capture first-place.
Meanwhile, LC-M’s Peveto continued his torrid pace on the season as he captured first-place with a time of 9:47.66.
Both will try to get to State in two events when they both run the 1,600 meters Saturday afternoon.
