To the Citizens of Orange,

My name is Larry Spears Jr. and I am asking for your vote, prayers and support as I am proud to announce that I intend to seek nomination as a candidate for the office of Mayor of Orange, Texas in the upcoming 2018 city elections. Born and raised in Orange, I am 37 years old and blessed to be married to my amazing wife Trisha with 3 wonderful children.

I have done my absolute best to be a positive influence and contributor to the community for many years by listening to and finding ways to address the problems and concerns of the citizens. Since 2014, I have represented the community as Position #6 on the city council. Currently I hold the position of Mayor Pro-Tem and serve as a Director on the City of Orange Economic Development Committee and the South-East Texas Regional Planning Commission. It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve the citizens of Orange and with your vote and support I want to continue to be a part of the solution in finding ways to make Orange a better place for us all.

I firmly believe there are two key issues that we need to focus on immediately, our youth and our economy. We must continue to work on developing ways to promote our children and provide creative outlets for them to express themselves, learn and mature. By mentoring our youth, we provide a solid starting point that will place them on the path of success. They are the future of this community and we must do all we can to support and empower them to succeed.

Orange is rich with a diverse community of people that when working together can truly make a difference. We must explore and utilize opportunities to work with surrounding communities to actively promote our city and solidify measures for resolving our economic issues. Investing in local business stimulates cash flow, generates jobs, and in time will attract new companies and investors to choose Orange for future projects.

The manufacturing and petrochemical/refinery industry is the largest source of earning potential for our area. Attracting new business to utilize our waterway access is vital to the growth of our area for it affects not only Orange but all surrounding communities. We must challenge ourselves to proactively do whatever we can to utilize our resources and assets to keep this community unified, strong and prepared for growth.

With God’s direction and guidance, I know that we can come together to find solutions that will ensure a future we can all be proud of. I want to thank you for allowing me to represent you the last 4 years and I humbly ask for your vote and support so that I may continue to work for you and our community.
