Bridge City lifters shine at Lumberton event

LUMBERTON — The Bridge City Powerlifting team competed at the Lumberton Invitational on Thursday, Jan. 11. The girls placed second overall and the boys placed fourth. The individual results are as follows:
Girls: Sophomore Megan Rappelet placed first in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 240 pounds; Sophomore Josie Watts placed fourth in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 310 pounds; Senior Maggie Garcia placed second in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 565 pounds;
Sophomore Sadie Stone placed third in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 515 pounds; Junior Lacey Pender placed first in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 665 pounds;
Freshman Gracie Fontenot placed third in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 565 pounds;
Junior Jadyn Cunningham placed fourth in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 540 pounds;
Freshman Hailey Powell placed fifth in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 345 pounds;
Junior Chloe LeJeune placed first in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 725 pounds; Senior Kimber Ellender placed second in her weight class by lifting a total weight of 620 pounds.
Boys:
Sophomore Jake Potter placed second in his weight class by lifting a total weight of 735 pounds; Junior Alex Williams placed fourth in his weight class by lifting a total weight of 675 pounds; Sophomore Josh Fuselier placed first in his weight class by lifting a total weight of 695 pounds; Senior Sheldon Becker placed third in his weight class by lifting a total weight of 880 pounds; Junior Jack Fontenot placed first in his weight class by lifting a total weight of 1,325 pounds.
