PRESS RELEASE- On Tuesday, at approximately 7:46 p.m., the Vidor Police Department received a call of a bicycle vs automobile accident in the 1000 block of S. Main in Vidor Texas.
Responding officers found the bicycle rider in the parking lot of 1010 S. Main. The patient was in critical condition with CPR being initiated by first responders.
Officers of Vidor PD, Fire fighters from Orange County ESD #1 and Medics from Acadian Ambulance Service continued to provide life-saving aid.
The patient was pronounced deceased on the scene by Justice of the Peace Derry Dunn.
The incident is under investigation. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating.
It appears the bicycle did not have any lights or reflectors that were visible from the rear and the area is poorly lit.
The victim’s name has been identified as Wesley Ray Hampshire, 65, of Kountze, Texas.
