Special to The Leader
Carol Post of Oak Forest Elementary in Vidor was named Region V Elementary Teacher of the Year. She has twenty-two years in education, and teaches Special Education at Oak Forest.
Post previously taught at Sims Elementary in Bridge City, Anderson Elementary in West Orange, and was a traveling ESL teacher in West Orange. She also taught at Mauriceville Elementary and Vidor Elementary before moving to Oak Forest in August of 2009.
“I believe that teaching values and interpersonal skills are essential as the student journeys toward adulthood, and by doing so can change the world a little at a time for the better,” Post said.
She is seen as an amazing teacher by her colleagues, but she will quickly tell you that she just does her job and prays every day for good results. Post teaches not only subject matter, but courtesy and compassion. She believes that teaches must capture each opportunity to create positive relationships with the parents of students, and works to establish good social skills so that her students will represent Vidor ISD well. Post will be honored at a superintendents’ luncheon in the Fall, as well as joining the other teachers of the year from across the state in Austin later in the year.
