Who: Gift of Life Program and its medical partners, local physicians and providers
What: FREE Men’s Health & Prostate Cancer Screenings during June, National Men’s Health Month
In honor of Father’s Day, the Gift of Life is providing an additional 50 FREE screenings at each of its three sites!
Screenings include primary care tests (blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, HIV and Hepatitis C), along with prostate cancer screenings, educational outreach and onsite consultations with medical professionals for eligible men.
Why: These essential screenings address the ever-increasing need for healthcare services in our region, particularly for at-risk men. Screening pre-registration is recommended, and walk-ins will be accepted subject to eligibility.
Eligibility requirement: Gift of Life screens men who are at least 45 years of age (40 if African American or younger if there is a family history of prostate cancer) and have not had prostate cancer, have limited income and are medically underinsured.
Since 2000, the Gift of Life has made available nearly 9,000 free prostate cancer screenings and helped extend the lives of 71 men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and whose diagnostic and cancer treatment costs were entirely underwritten by the Gift of Life.
