Vidor patrol car involved in crash on Interstate 10

Texas Department of Public safety, was notified of the crash about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 10, near the mile marker 861 involving a Vidor patrol unit. The officer had been investigating a car crash in the Interstate 10 westbound lanes when his patrol car was rear-ended by a 2005 Chevrolet passenger car, according to a DPS statement.
The officer’s patrol car was parked with the emergency lights activated.
The driver of the Chevy has been identified as Randy Scott, 44, of Orange. He was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital with minor injuries.
The officer was not injured.
Scott provided a voluntary blood specimen and DPS is awaiting toxicology reports to determine whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the accident occurred.
