A 31-year-old Vidor man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter following a Monday night auto pedestrian wreck that killed Shane Harold Rollins, of Vidor, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
DPS spokesperson, Sgt. Stephanie Davis said Christopher Morgan has submitted a blood specimen to the DPS crime lab and toxicology results are pending.
Officials arrived to the scene of the auto pedestrian crash around 10 p.m., approximately one mile south of Vidor, Davis said.
Morgan was driving a 1997 Chevy pickup truck southbound on Concord Street, when he struck Rollins who was walking northbound, facing traffic, according to Davis.
Morgan traveled off the roadway and struck Rollins. The truck continued off the roadway and into the woods before coming to rest, Davis said.
Davis confirmed that Rollins, 41, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Derry Dunn. Morgan was transported to Baptist Orange hospital with minor injuries, and was released Tuesday, Davis said.
The investigation is ongoing, Davis said.
