Two Vehicle Crash on Highway 62 in Jasper County Sends Both Drivers to the Hospital

PRESS RELEASE – At approximately 7:45p.m. on Monday, the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 62 in Jasper County. The crash occurred near Old Champion Food.
A 2006 Chevrolet SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 62. A 1999 Toyota pickup was traveling southbound on Highway 62. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Chevrolet crossed the center dividing line into the southbound traffic lane. The Chevrolet collided head-on with the Toyota.
The driver of the Toyota, 18-year-old Hector Lopez of Vidor, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 37-year-old Jamie Ray Pittman of Colmesneil, was also transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
This is an ongoing crash investigation and there are no further details to be released at this time.
