Vidor man injured in early morning collision on FM 105

PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 6:30a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on FM 105 in Orange County. The crash occurred near Old Spanish Trail.
A 1996 Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on FM 105 followed by a 1999 Chevrolet Corvette. A 2002 Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on FM 105. The driver of the Chevrolet passed the Ford when unsafe and collided with the motorcycle. After striking the motorcycle, the Chevrolet Corvette came back into the southbound traffic lane and collided with the Ford pickup truck.
The driver of the motorcycle, 62-year-old Earnest Best Jr. of Vidor, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. At this time, Best is in surgery with the possibility of losing one of his legs.
The driver of the Ford, 23-year-old Tyler Neff of Vidor, was not injured in the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 56-year-old David Brian Earl of Beaumont, did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
Earl was issued a traffic citation for passing to the left when unsafe.
