HOT tax on the agenda for Tuesday

City of Orange City Council will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday following an Orange Economic Development Corporation will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Orange Public Library Auditorium located at 220 North 5th Street in Orange.
Council will conduct a Public Hearing on the allocation of Hotel/Motel Tax Funds to various organizations, which can be found at the bottom of this page.
The funds are raised through a tax for hotel, motel, homes used by tourists for less than 30 days for the purpose of promoting tourism and the convention and hotel industry in the area.
Council will also hold a Public Hearing concerning the annexation of 5.289 acre tract along the west right of way line of State Hwy. 62 and northwesterly along Interstate 10.
A Public Hearing will also be held for the demolition of nine structures. The clearance of the properties will be funded through the city’s Community Development Block Grant Program.
Council will also hold a Public Hearing on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2017. After the hearing, the council will consider adopting the budget. Council will also vote on approving the budget for the Orange Economic Development Corporation.
City council will also consider an resolution reducing the speed limit of 50 miles per hour on the westbound frontage raod on Interstate 10 west of State Hwy. 62 for 1.1 miles beginning in November 2016.
