LCM claims back-to-back Academic Championship

For the second year straight, Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School has claimed the District title in the Spring Academic Meet. Their total score of 459 points put them 121 points ahead of second place winner, Bridge City. Orangefield was third with 273.
The first six places are recognized in each category. The following lists LCM’s Team and individual winners in each contest. Accounting: Team – Second, Trey Love – Fifth and Kayne Williams – Sixth; Calculator Applications: Team Second, Thomas King – Third; Current Issues: Team – Second, Spencer Johns – First, Matthew Cox – Fifth and Sam Ross – Sixth; Computer Science: Team – First, Individual ranking was a sweep with Thomas King, John Comeaux, Matthew Cox and Tyler Wolfford taking First through Fourth respectively; Feature Writing: Valen Elliot and Bailey Noah placed First and Second and Sydney Pierce placed Fourth; Headline Writing: Bailey Noah – Third, Andrea Steward – Fifth; Informative Speaking – Nyah Patel – Fourth, Akhil Tejani – Fifth and Zachary Casey – Sixth; Lincoln Douglas Debate: Emily Erb – Third; Mathematics: Team – First, Thomas King – First, Cameron Parker – Third and Tyler McCorvy – Fifth; Number Sense: Team – First, Thomas King – First, Chris Cook – Second, Drake Trawhon – Fifth and Mitchell Lee – Sixth; News Writing: Valen Elliott – First and Bailey Noah – Fifth; Persuasive Speaking: Emily Erb – Second, Aman Tehani – Third and Geoffrey Hill – Fourth; Poetry Interpretation: Connor Alexander – First; Meg Clark – Second and Dalton Teeler – Fifth; Prose Interpretation: Tyler Regan – First; Elijah Ridout – Third; Maggie Pigg – Fourth; Ready Writing: Alora Jones – Third; Cross Examination: Team 1 – Third, Team 2 – Fourth, Journalism: Team – First; One Act Play: First and Speech: Team – First.
