LC-M grad and UH-V golfer Brasseaux wins individual honors

University of Houston-Victoria’s Brooke Brasseaux won a one-hole playoff Tuesday to capture individual medalist honors at the UHV Fall Classic held at The Club at Colony Creek.
Brasseaux, who began the day a shot back and in a four-way tie for second, posted a final round 1-over 73 to share the individual lead with Trinity University’s Hanna Niner at the 54-hole event. Niner also posted a final-round 73.
Brasseaux, a senior from Orange, finished the event with a 76-75-73-224, while her teammate, Shelbi Vincent, a junior from of Nederland, posted the low round of the day with a 1-under 71 to finish as third medalist. Vincent posted rounds of 79-77-71-227.
Freshman Reid Whaley of Nederland, posted a final round 79 and freshman Jo Ellen Canales of Corpus Christi, posted an 89 to help the Jaguars finish with the third-best team round of the day at 312. The Jaguars finished in fifth place with a 341-330-312-983.
Trinity University went from start to finish for the title posting a final round 310 for a 54-hole total 923. Houston St. Thomas finished second with a 954 after a final round 316. Texas A&M-Kingsville posted the best round of the day at 308 to finish third at 957.
The Jaguars will take part in the Alamo City classic, hosted by Trinity, on Oct. 19-20 in San Antonio.
