The City of Orange Historic Preservation Commission selected Ben Meadows as the new Chair on Tuesday.
Suzanne Perry was selected at new Vice-Chair for the commission.
The commission is a five-member board which currently has an empty seat.
A color palette available at Parker’s Lumber was approved as color options available for residents in the Historic District.
The group discussed a request from Stephen Kosh concerning changes in the columns on the first floor of 1102 Orange Ave. house. Kosh purchased the house with plans to renovate the house. Kosh, according to Director of Planning and Community Development Jimmy Lewis, requested changing the round columns on the first floor to square columns.
The columns support the second floor and are in need of being replaced.
The committee suggested using a wrap around square posts or threading the posts through the round columns.
“Changing from round to square would change the overall appearance of the house,” Meadows said.
Perry pointed out that the second floor would still have the round columns.
