ORANGEFIELD —
The 2nd annual Christmas in Orangefield will kick off 10 a.m. Saturday with a parade with C.J. Benoit as parade marshall. The festivities will continue at Orangefield Cormier Museum, 99674 FM 105 next to Orangefield High School, in Orangefield.
The Orangefield community has worked together with the school community to provide much fun and entertainment for people of all ages.
Following the parade there will be activities for young and old with the main attraction being the 25,000 sq. ft. museum surrounded by food and craft venders. The museum was a gift of the Paul Cormier Family to the Orangefield Independent School District.
Gumbo prepared by Betty Chandler, a chili cook-off, face painting for children, Uncle Jesse’s Farm, a Civil War Re-enactment, cake and cookie sales, bands, singers, dancers, a petting zoo, washers, horseshoes, pictures with Santa, letters to Santa, and much more will be available throughout the day on the festival grounds.
The Southeast Texas Model Railroad Club and the East Texas and Gulf Rail Modelers Association will set up their model train displays in the Museum. These model railroad clubs show throughout Texas and surrounding states.
Festivities will conclude with a reading of ‘The Cajun Night before Christmas’ and Christmas Lights at dusk.
The community is invited to celebrate the season while supporting the Orangefield Cormier Museum. The event is free to the public.
Last year, the museum brought back the annual tradition of Christmas in Orangefield Festival.
