ORANGE —
The Orange African American Museum is making plans for fundraising and membership drives for the non-profit organization.
The group received $1,500 donations during the February meeting. The association named Kenneth and Charley Anderson as Patron Saints of The Orange African American Museum in appreciation for their recent donation of $500 each. Assistant Historian and Board Member Gloria Anderson accepted in their honor during the Tuesday meeting held 6 p.m. at 303 North 8th Street in Orange.
The organization is still waiting to receive the other $500 in funds promised during the February meeting.
Plans for selling T-shirts during Arts in the Park 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday at Stark Park, 711 Green Ave. in Orange, were discussed. The Orange African American Museum will have a booth in hopes of increasing membership and donations. There is a limited number of T-shirts and will be sold at $15 each.
Members voiced concerns for raising funds during the meeting. A future meeting will discuss details in establishing a Fundraising Committee.
The funds are needed for a building to house the museum.
