ORANGE —
Wesley Methodist Church, 401 37th Street in Orange, is giving new meaning to the phrase ‘raise the roof.’
The church is planning a church wide garage sale 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2.
“Every nickel will go to the Lord,” Charlene Wallace, organizer of the event, said. “We want to help with the cost of the new roof.”
Work has already started on the roof which will change the look of the church by giving the roof a new pitch and returning the steeple.
Church members donated the items for sale which range from silverware, glassware, craft items, kitchen items and some furniture.
“The ladies have been working very hard to ready for the big day,” Wallace said.
Thrift and Gift Shop, 350 37th Street in Orange, will be open 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday. The Bargain Room, Gym Room, and Holiday Room will also be opened with reductions in prices on selected items.
The Thrift and Gift Shop is a non-profit organization run by volunteers for and about senior citizens.
The quilters will be working on their latest quilt during the event.
