ORANGE —
The Orange African American Museum members recently discussed plans for raising funds and increasing membership.
The museum is chartered by the state of Texas as a non-profit organization, dedicating to presenting and preserving African Americans history.
The organization, while still in the early stages, is hoping to create a place to honor ancestors and pioneers of early Orange.
Members discussed options for obtaining grants and donations to increase the building funds while increasing community awareness of the organization.
Plans for events for February to honor Black History Month will be finalized during the 6 p.m. Feb. 12 meeting at City of Orange Neighborhood Facility Building located at 303 North 8th Street in Orange.
