The last day of 2012 was honored as V.I.P.F.A. Champions Day in Orange County.
Orange County Commissioners’ Court proclaimed the day as such in honor of the 2012 Texas State Champions of the 10 years and under V.P.I.F.A.
Commissioner Jody Crump, Pct. 4, said, “We want to recognize the group of coaches, moms, players and staff that took the time, bruises and whatever it took.”
Crump also told the players that no matter how old they are, even at 60, they will still always be the 2012 Champions.
“You are the best of the best,” Crump said.
Each of the coaches and players names were read in court with each given a copy of the proclamation.
“Let’s give a round of applause for these boys,” John Dubose, commissioner pct. 3 said.
The court also discussed allowing County Treasurer Christy Khoury to authorize a wire to pay $3 million towards the principle of the Interest and Sinking Loan.
The loan is the $6 million borrowed in October.
“The money flow is starting to come in,” County Judge Carl Thibodeaux said. “We hope to pay it in 30 days.”
The court also approved the paying of bills for a total of $256,585.05.
Wesley McPhail was appointed as the Labor Standards Officer and Brittney Y’Barbo as an Alternate Labor Standards Officer for the Hurricane Ike Round 2.2 General Land Office funded project.
With the appointment of staff members of David J. Waxman Inc. to conduct on-site wage interviews in the absence of the Labor Standards Compliance Officer, Beth Waxmen, the last requirements needed to start the funding of the Ike 2.2 grant are now in place.
David Dubose, commissioner pct. 1 was appointed as the new County Judge Pro-Tem.
