PEARSALL, Texas (AP) — A 29-year-old Pearsall policeman arrested twice over alcohol-related domestic incidents is on unpaid administrative leave.
Officer Matthew Martinez has been with the force for a year. A message left with the department was not immediately returned Tuesday to The Associated Press.
Martinez was arrested Friday in Jourdanton on a driving while intoxicated charge after he allegedly followed his wife as she sought to file a complaint against him. He was freed Saturday on $4,000 bail.
Martinez was released on $500 personal recognizance bond after his arrest Sunday in Kerr County on a public intoxication charge. Pearsall police Chief Henry Martinez, who is not related to Matthew Martinez, says the armed officer went to the sheriff's office in a dispute over text messages to his wife.
He was put on administrative leave Monday.
