Malakoff man dies, had 26 wounds
ATHENS, Texas (AP) — Two acquaintances of a Malakoff man found dead along a road are accused of killing him after a Thanksgiving party.
The Henderson County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday said 52-year-old Elizalde Jose Morales had at least 26 stab and trauma wounds. Morales was last seen alive at a holiday party at the Laredo Ballroom in Malakoff.
The body was discovered the day after Thanksgiving by a work crew.
Investigator Bryan Tower said two murder warrants were issued. A third man was sought.
Tower says 30-year-old Mariano Rivera-Ramirez of Malakoff remained in custody after his arrest Friday on a misdemeanor charge of evading arrest. Tower says Rivera-Ramirez faced arraignment on the murder charge.
The second warrant names 29-year-old Cecilio Padron-Perez, who is believed to be from the Dallas area and remains at large.
