LONGVIEW, Texas —
An East Texas woman has received a 20-year prison sentence for a series of burglaries, including one heist of Christmas gifts set aside for foster children.
The Longview News Journal reports that Sarah Marie Adams was sentenced this week. The 47-year-old Adams received eight years for the Christmas gift burglary late last year, 10 years for burglarizing a home in May and two years for burglarizing a building in April.
Adams and a co-defendant were accused weeks before last Christmas of breaking the lock on a storage unit for the Gregg County Child Welfare Board.
Many of the Christmas gifts stolen were found in January after they had been sold.
The co-defendant, Rachel Bradley, is scheduled for trial in November.
Longview is about 125 miles east of Dallas.
