The Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, familiarly known as the CME Church, was organized December 16, 1870 in Jackson, Tennessee. For the past 119 Years’ St. Paul C.M.E. has occupied the property located at 1201 N. 4th St. in Orange.
On Sunday, March 17, at 11 a.m., Rev. DeAndre∏ K. Bell and the members of St. Paul will celebrate its 119 years of existence. The theme of this year’s celebration will be “A Journey of Faith: From Membership to Discipleship”, Matthew 28: 19-20.
St. Paul withstood the winds of Hurricane Rita, however the flood of Hurricane Ike caused severe devastation causing the interior to be totally destroyed. Although the interior has been transformed, St. Paul is still standing firmly.
St. Paul boasts a rich heritage. There are many families worshipping with four, five and even six generations. Acknowledging that a family that prays together stays together, we will celebrate our Journey of faith truly knowing “Lord We’ve Come a Long Way.”
This year in keeping with our Church Anniversary ritual we will pause to honor those members who are no longer with us; Bessie Mayfield, Arrie Lee Simpson, Juanita Cotton and Robert Hinson. St. Paul will conclude the 11 a.m. service with lunch for all members, family and friends in attendance. This year, those in attendance will be in for a real treat “for lunch” as the men of St. Paul will host this occasion. Rev. De Andre∏ K. Bell closes Sunday Worship services from The Book of Jude: “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen” and then says to the congregation “I Love You and You Can’t Do Anything About It.”
Rev. Bell is proud to be the Pastor of St. Paul C.M.E. Church and St. Paul is definitely proud to celebrate 119 Years of existence with Rev. DeAndre∏ K. Bell.
