ORANGE —
We are hardwired to change and grow through relationships. Jesus did all His teachings through relationships. God grows us and transforms us through relationship with Him.
After we are saved and dead with Him at Calvary, He transforms us not by rules, nor by belittling us but by showing us who we are “in Him.” He infects us by His presence and changes us from glory to glory, lifting us to where we could never go by ourselves.
Ephesians 5:38-31, “So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself....for we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones....For this cause shall a man.,...be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.” As Christ is with the Church, so we are to become with our spouses.
Husband and wife are to lift one another up, encourage and put the other’s interest first. In doing so, like Jesus, we get great joy. (Hebrews 12:2)
While going through His suffering seemed unbearably difficult and painful, He did it knowing it was the only way that even God could get the joy He wanted.
Listen to me. If God who could have done or created anything he wanted had to get the relationship He craved by giving His all, how do we think we can do it any other way?
The source of your greatest joy and satisfaction is right in your home and it’s not the refrigerator’s contents or TV, but relationship with your spouse and children. There is no fame, wealth, ownership or position in life that can give you more joy and satisfaction than great relationships with those with whom you live.
We get to bring the worst or the best out of those around us. Our responsibility is to encourage and build up our partners.
We can do it like Christ does the church or by criticizing.
We have a choice!
