ORANGE —
Paul wrote, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
It is very important in life to know for sure God is for you. When the situations of life press us it is difficult to remember that God is for us, because of a guilt feeling the church often carries in its message.
When someone close to us says, “We have to talk,” men usually become very busy because “let’s talk” often is painful. So it is with us and God Since He knows everything about us and is perfect Himself, we expect a serious lecture and a guilt trip.
But the Christmas story is filled with visitations from heaven and angels telling the good news, yet God never used those times to find fault or correct, but to assure us He was sending His Son to take away our guilt.
When Mary returned to Nazareth after three months with her Aunt Elisabeth and Joseph saw she was pregnant, he was perplexed and decided to call off the wedding by privately getting a divorce. In his perplexity the angel told him to not be afraid to marry Mary for her pregnancy was supernatural. The angel’s talk freed Joseph. So it is today. God wants to free us. So why do we often feel His voice, or presence, or personal prophecy is going to condemn us?
In spite of how we feel about ourselves, He is for us! God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world. (John 3:17)
The angel told the shepherds "be not afraid.” Jesus is God’s gift to us. Christmas is the time to enjoy His grace and forgiveness. If its in church, around the Christmas tree, or listening to carols in the mall, it’s the time of year to bask in God’s goodness.
Someone said, “God is not mad at you. He’s mad about you.” He didn’t come to find fault, but to forgive your faults. Enjoy the season!
