ORANGE —
When we speak of having someone committed or being committed we think of them having mental challenges and being assigned and confined to a facility for observation, medication and restoration.
I would like to submit that we have several of our parents and churches that need to be committed.
If we truly believe it takes a village to raise a child, looking at the state of our children, what does it say about the village? It says the village is not committed. We’re not committed to ensuring the safety of our children, to empowering yesterday’s dreams into today’s realities.
We are not committed to imparting strong family unity and values that will strengthen generations.
We are not committed to developing corporate professional instead of candidates for prison.
Question, within our community do we have more potential executives enrolled into Lamar State than misguided women and men housed in the county or local jail? Do we have the same number of high school freshmen graduating four years later? Do we have a community that cares more about our wellbeing than being on welfare?
If the answer to any of these question is no then we need to be committed.
We cannot expect to raise a community of stellar minded children if we have cellar minded parents.
Isaiah 61 instructs us to target and be committed to the empowering of the poor, brokenhearted, captives and imprisoned. We also are to be committed to comforting, consoling and counseling for the purpose of transforming lives.
I use to think “crab in the bucket” was a negative mind set. Getting committed has changed my mindset about the bucket (village).
All of us need help at some point.
If I refuse to try to get out of the bucket because someone may try to pull me down, there’s no hope or success for any of us. Being committed to getting out, if you happen to have enough strength to hold on, you and I both will get to the top.
Too many of us (body of Christ) are scared to go into the areas we ourselves have been delivered from. No one can change their past, but we do hold the pen to write our future. Get committed to help “right” someone’s life.
Being insane may get you committed, not being committed is simply insane.
Let’s get Crazy!!!!!
