ORANGE —
Orange Police Department officers responded to an accidental gunshot at about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of Dupont Drive.
A woman was unloading groceries when a camera case containing .25 and .22 caliber handguns fell onto the ground.
The .25 caliber handgun accidentally discharged and struck the woman in the front right leg, according to police reports.
A witness spoke to officers and the story given by the witness matched the story given by the woman hit by the bullet.
The gunshot victim was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont and her injuries were not life threatening.
The handguns and ammunition were seized by officers for safe keeping.
