Choir student earns UIL State Gold Medallion

For the second consecutive year, West Orange–Stark High School 2009 Senior Chase Champine has been named a 2009 Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest Outstanding Performer.

Of the approximately 85,000 students participating in the regional UIL music contests and the 22,000 musicians who performed at TSSEC, only 239 students earned this distinguished honor.

Only students who earned State first division ratings at the Texas State Competition were considered for the honor, and of those, only a select few are recognized as “Outstanding Performer.”

“This achievement is truly a mark of musical excellence,” Richard Floyd, UIL State Director of Music said.

Champine has been presented with a UIL State Gold Medallion. The medallion is identical to those awarded to state champions in all UIL events.

“Awards of this nature do not come easily and reflect the efforts of many individuals. Your parents, school and teachers are to be commended,” Floyd said.

Champine is a three year member of the West Orange-Stark High School Choir. Angela Greer is the West Orange-Stark High School Choir Director.

Champine will attend Prairie View A & M University in the Fall. He will pursue a degree in computer engineering technology.
