LSC-O salutes its fall 2009 graduates

ORANGE — Sabine River Authority of Texas Assistant Manager David Montagne will serve as the guest speaker at the LSC-O fall 2009 commencement at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18, at the Lutcher Theater.

Montagne, who has worked for the Sabine River Authority since 1986, has supervised over 100 employees and is responsible for operations, finance, engineering, planning and environmental services. He reports directly to the general manager to assist in executing the policy and program directives of the Board of Directors. Prior to his position as assistant manager, he held the position of controller for the Authority.

Montagne is a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont with a BBA in Accounting. He was appointed to a six-year term on The Texas State University System Board of Regents by Governor Rick Perry in February 2009.

He is a past Board Member for the Lamar University Orange Foundation, Orange County Red Cross and Orange County American Heart Association.

He received the Paul Harris Fellow award from the Orange Rotary Club and is a Past Treasurer for the Club. Montagne is a Board Member for the Lamar University Cardinal Club.

In May of 2004, he was appointed to the Texas Ethics Commission by Governor Perry and served until April of 2009. His wife, Janet, is the president of Group Care Home Health. David and Janet have four children and reside in Beaumont, Texas.    

Dr. J. Michael Shahan, LSC-O president, will introduce the special guest and confer the degrees. Dr. Joe Kirkland, vice president of academic affairs, will perform the certification of candidates. Other LSC-O dignitaries on the program are Bobbie Burgess, vice president for student services and auxiliary enterprises, presentation of graduating class; and Carla Dando, dean of instruction, recognition of honor graduates.
