Honey Bear Rodeo set for Nov. 10

ORANGE — The Little Cypress Mauriceville Honey Bear Drill Team is preparing for its 7th Annual Bulls and Barrels Rodeo, on Saturday, Nov. 10. The rodeo will be held this year at the Cowboy Church of Orange County Rodeo Arena at 673 FM 1078 in Orange, Texas. The gates open at 6 p.m. with festivities beginning at 8 p.m.

Honey Bears and their parents work the rodeo allowing a full night of entertainment for the public to enjoy. Events include Bull-riding, Barrel Racing, Calf Dressing, Mutton Busting and the Calf Scramble. Tickets are $5 for everyone over the age of 3 years. Children 3 years and under are admitted free. Tickets will be available for purchase at the gate.

The purpose of the rodeo has always been to promote community unity, providing a fun night of unique entertainment while raising money for various Honey Bear activities and needs. Funds raised will be applied to a senior scholarship, the Honey Bear Annual Tea, Senior Banquet and Christmas Dance, football season and Christmas parade and additional uniforms when needed. The Honey Bears also use these funds to provide socks, blankets and lotion for nursing home residents during the holidays.

This year, some of the funds raised will allow the Honey Bears to travel to Orlando, Florida to perform in Disney World. Monies raised at the rodeo could also help facilitate future plans to create a rehearsal space for the team.
