ORANGE —
Cheers to Michael King for being hired as the new superintendent of the Bridge City Independent School District. King has been in the education business 18 years, helping many kids in a variety of ways.
Jeers to Congress for wasting time on hearings to determine if Roger Clemens used steroids or not. Congress needs to stop grandstanding for the cameras and focus on more important issues.
Cheers and good luck go out to the two Mid-County Babe Ruth All-Star teams today as they host the East Texas State Tournament in Nederland. Of the 34 players on both teams, 16 are from Orange County.
Jeers to Texas Senator John Cornyn for saying it would be irresponsible for President Obama to present a last-minute proposal in the budget debate. Time is running out for the president and congress to negotiate a deal before August 2, deadline to raise the government borrowing limit. A “last minute” deal is exactly what it has come down to. Both sides need to move past their stubborn talking points and negotiate a plan that’s good for our country.
Cheers to the Bridge City/Orangefield Rotary Club for their display of U.S. flags on July 4th.
