ORANGE — Nelda Sue Smith, 87, of Orange, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at Rosemont Assisted Living in Kingwood.
Funeral services will be 3pm, Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend John Warren of First United Methodist Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1pm to 3pm, Saturday, at the funeral home.
Born in Bronson, Texas, in 1925, Nelda was the daughter of Thomas F. and Maxie Smith. Nelda loved her family and everyone enjoyed going to “Granny’s” house for meals. There were many good times spent with Nelda, especially during the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murrell Prentes “M.P.” Smith, Sr. and son, Murrell Prentes “Scooter” Smith, Jr.
Nelda is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Galey and husband, John of Houston; son, Mickey Phillip Smith and wife, Leslie of Orange; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Smith of Orange; grandchildren, Logan Duncan Smith, Kelly Wayne Smith, Darrin Joseph Smith, Phillip Earl Jolly, James Ellis Jolly, Stephen Prentes Jolly; great-grandchildren, Madyson Jolly, Alyssa Jolly, Jordyn Smith, Layla Smith, and Mattox Smith.
Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Duncan Smith, Kelly Wayne Smith, Darrin Joseph Smith, Phillip Earl Jolly, James Ellis Jolly, and Stephen Prentes Jolly. Honorary pallbearers are J.T. “Pete” Powell and Ray Whiteley.
