Mrs. Arrie Lee Simpson was born on January 1, 1928 in San Augustine, Texas to the parents of Mary Elizabeth Hollis and Elije Mosby. Arrie Lee was the youngest of 12 siblings. She attended school in San Augustine, Texas and graduated high school in Dallas. Married to O. D. Simpson for 61 years and mother of Andrea Perry (Vernell), Odell Simpson (Debra), Willow Simpson, Jean D’Aguilar (Gavin) and Linda Aplon (Don). Arrie Lee’s most important role was to raise her children to be decent, respectful and responsible human beings. This job paid nothing, yet it reaped benefits bountifully.
As a young mother, Arrie Lee served her community and church faithfully by leading the Youth Choir at St. Paul C.M.E. Church, carpooling neighborhood children to school and managing the family-owned business for over 15 years. She loved to travel with her family around the US, Canada and the Caribbean.
Preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters. Arrie Lee leaves to cherish her memories, and family above along with one sister, Juanita Cotton, 3 sisters-in-law: Etheleen Mosby, Mary Louise Simpson & Berna Dean Jones. She also has 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and her special loyal companion, the family dog, Cissy Lee Simpson who she gave her middle name to.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10:00am at St. Paul CME Church in Orange, Texas. Viewing will be at 9:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF), www.parkinson.org in memory of Arrie Lee Simpson.
