Ms. Betty Jean Reed Geter (56), of Orange, Texas passed away November 28, 2012 at Harbor Hospice Beaumont, Texas after a battle with Cancer. She was born on September 7, 1956 in Monroe, Louisiana, to Johnnie and Florence Reed. She attended West Orange High School and graduated in 1976. She attended McKinley Avenue Job Corp, in McKinley, Texas, and returned home to continue her education at Lamar University Orange, to pursue Physical Therapy. She worked at Orange Memorial Hospital for 18 years and took a Medical Retirement.
She enjoyed studying the Word of God and sharing his word with those whom she knew and would meet. Betty never met a stranger, because everyone she encountered became a friend. She was a Member of Relay for life. She loved her Habitat for Humanity Home. She was a great cook. She enjoyed keeping her granddaughter, Malasia and cherished every moment of the time. She is survived by her son, Derrick Lloyd Geter; one granddaughter, Malasia Lena'e Geter; parents Johnnie and Florence Reed; three sisters, Theresa Reed James, Jerrie Dean Curtis, and Vicki Phillips,(Larry) all of Orange; three brothers, Larry Reed Sr, Jimmie Reed, and Johnnie Reed Jr., of Orange Texas, Several Aunts and Uncles; and several nieces and nephews; and a great niece and great nephew. Celebration of Life will be at Power Praise Christian Center, 1311 North 10th Street Orange, Texas, Pastor Rickey Guillory Officiating Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 12:pm with Interment to following Magnolia Garden Center. Direction of Colonial Memorial Chapel. The family would like to extend their appreciation to MD Anderson Hospital Sarcoma Oncology Staff, Harbor Hospice Beaumont, and Harbor Home Health Care, and Ms Shirley Ray, for all the help provided in her time of need.
