Dallas, Texas —
Elizabeth Renee Whiteland and Colby Benjamin Stevens were married in a 5:30
PM candlelight ceremony at Woodcreek Fellowship Bible Church on Saturday,
April 24, 2010 in Richardson, Texas. Beth is the daughter of Ms. Leslie
Waldman of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mr. Bruce Sutherland of Kennewick, Washington. Colby is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Benjamin Stevens and is the grandson of Glenn Bennefield and Reverend Henry L. Stevens of Orange. Their pastor Dr. Mark Engelthaler officiated over the double-ring ceremony. Andy Swanner, Minister of Music at First Baptist Church Richardson, was the pianist for the ceremony and started the ceremony with a prelude of "Edelweiss" from The Sound of Music. Serving as bridesmaids were Beth's sister Shannon Donahue of Rapid City, South Dakota and Colby's sister Suzanne Weldon of Tyler, Texas. The best man was Cliff Aldredge of Murphy, Texas and the groomsman was Casey Steenport of Pflugerville, Texas. The processional, the song "Only Hope" from the movie A Walk to Remember , was sung by Kelle Henson. Given in marriage by her parents, Beth was escorted down the aisle by her father to Pachelbel's "Canon in D". Following a greeting and message by Dr. Engelthaler, Robert Kienlen played acoustic guitar and sang "The Wedding Song" by Paul Noel Stokey. The couple then exchanged rings and vows after which Fred Carriker sang "The Lord's Prayer". Dr. Engelthaler presented the couple who recessed to a piano arrangement of Vivaldi's "Spring". Beth is a 1998 graduate of El Paso's Coronado High School and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in December 2002. Upon graduation, Beth moved to Dallas, Texas to work for Raytheon Company in Garland. Colby is a 1999 graduate of Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in May 2003 also with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Colby was also employed by Raytheon in Garland after graduation. Immediately following the ceremony, a dinner reception was held at the Richardson Renaissance Hotel where a flute quartet provided music for the evening. On the evening prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Texas Land & Cattle Steak House in Plano. Following a honeymoon to New Zealand, the couple has made their home in Dallas, Texas.
