BEAUMONT —
Firefighters answered the call of a burning trash container and have discovered a body inside the receptacle.
A body has been discovered inside a burning trash receptacle by personnel with the Beaumont Fire Department early Tuesday morning at an Exxon gas station at 550 W. Cardinal Drive in Beaumont.
Firefighters arrived the scene to find a Dumpster at the business on fire shortly after 2:15 a.m., Tuesday. Once the blaze was extinguished, firefighters found a body inside the container.
The body, which is currently unidentified, was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy. The container was taken to the Jefferson County Crime Lab for technicians to inspect its contents
The incident remains under investigation in a joint effort by the Beaumont Police Department and Beaumont Fire Department.
