VINTON, La. —
A 19-year-old man from Southwest Louisiana has been arrested for throwing debris at vehicles traveling Interstate 10.
Dalton J. Jaquillard of Sulphur, La. was arrested earlier this week without incident after the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of a man reported to be throwing debris, such as broken pieces of wood and concrete, from the Fabacher Overpass on Interstate 10 near Vinton, La. The incidents occurred during multiple nights from Feb. 12 through Feb. 15.
Investigators stated Jaquillard’s actions resulted in damage to 13 vehicles in excess of $10,000. Several injuries to motorists and passengers were also reported to law enforcement.
Jaquillard was charged with aggravated criminal damage to property, as well as aggravated assault, and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center after he reportedly confessed to detectives to throwing debris at vehicles “on numerous occasions” on Interstate 10 during the dates in question.
Judge Robert Wyatt set Jaquillard’s bond at $60,000. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are expected.
