ORANGE —
Family values and being a part of the community one lives in are apparent in The Train Stopped in Orange by Carrie Joiner Woliver, former Orange resident.
Woliver discovered her grandparents diaries from the 1917-1918.
Reading the diaries inspired Woliver to write the book which one returns to a different time in Orange, Texas.
The book is a pleasure to read as Woliver takes you through the entries of the diaries in 1918 through her own years growing up in the area.
Places and streets are mentioned which still remain today yet have changed over the years. Much activity centered around the train station which was a block from Will and Pearl Joiner’s home.
The book is recommended to those who enjoy history or reading about family values. It can be enjoyed as well by those that not live in the Orange, Texas area as it shows genuine family love.
Woliver is holding a book-signing reception 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday at The Old Orange Cafe, 914 West Division Street.
The book was published October 2012 and is 116 pages and sells for $11.95.
