PINEHURST —
Absences led to a short meeting Tuesday night for the City of Pinehurst City Council.
Mayor Pro Tem Dan Barclay lead the meeting in Mayor Joseph "Pete" Runnels absence.
Also missing were the representatives of Republic Services/Allied Waste who were on the agenda to give a presentation regarding the proposed changes to the waste management contract.
The council discussed dates for the December council meetings and approved combining the regular and workshop meetings into one meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 2497 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Pinehurst.
City Administrator Joe Parkhurst said the sewer rehabilitation work on Martin Street should be completed next week.
“We have had a few problems with it, but not many,” Parkhurst said.
The contract negotiations with the Pinehurst Police Officers’ Association will continue next week with a date and time to be announced.
John Zerko, councilman, asked when the lighted angels were scheduled to be on display.
Parkhurst said the angels would start going up on Wednesday and should all be on display within a couple of days.
