BEAUMONT —
An early morning shooting involving a Beaumont police officer remains under investigation, according to authorities.
Officers with the Beaumont Police Department answered the call of a disturbance shortly before 6 a.m., Friday, in the 3200 block of North 10th Street in Beaumont which involved an unidentified female who informed dispatchers she had been assaulted.
The 22-year-old woman, who was waiting outside the house for police to arrive, told dispatchers three men were inside the house and had been drinking.
As officers spoke with the woman, a 28-year-old white male carrying a shotgun was shot by one of the officers, who has not yet been identified. The “suspect” was transported to a hospital in Beaumont with “non-life threatening injuries,” according to a Beaumont Police Department statement.
No other injuries were reported and no other details were immediately available. The incident remains under investigation.
