ORANGE —
Have you ever thought seriously on the question of how much you are worth?
As you may already know there are quizzes, charts, and grafts that are available online that can give you an idea of what you are worth. If you decide to try and find out please don’t take any of them seriously.
No one can be rock-solid accurate. For example, I checked the site: humanforsale.com, and found I am worth $1.82 million dollars.
Wow! Checking my billfold, I couldn’t find a one-dollar bill. However, I checked other sites asking, “Just what is a body worth?” I was told: $160. Still another site wasn’t so generous. They say a body is worth $4.50; the skin alone is worth $3.50. So you can see, you may be worth more than you think you are or, you could be worth less than you think.
Here is a fact worth noting: Almighty God loved you so much that He willingly, deliberately--because you are worth it—loved you so much that He gave His only begotten Son to die by crucifixion (the most gruesome death imaginable) so that you can spend eternity with Him in Heaven some day. (Remember John 3:16.)
The Apostle Peter says, “… you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18, 19 NKJV).
The dictionary defines “precious” as being something “invaluable and priceless; describes something that is of inestimable worth.”
The blood of Jesus spilled at Calvary is “precious blood.” It is of inestimable worth and value. The Gospel song asks: “What can wash away my sin, nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again, nothing but the blood of Jesus.”
I cannot stress the importance of the value the Bible places upon the sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection of Jesus. The hope of having a place in Heaven rests solely in Him. The hope of cleansing from our sins rests solely in Him.
Peter (with John) boldly declares to the Jewish scribes, and rulers, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
You are, “greatly loved and highly favored.” That’s what you are worth.
