ORANGE —
Early voting will conclude Friday for the various run-off races from the May Primary election.
Friday, July 27, is the last day registered voters can vote early ahead of the Tuesday, July 31 run-off election day. Five Republican races and one Democratic race are on the ballot, respectively.
Early locations in Orange County are at the Orange Public Library, 220 N. Fifth St. in Orange; the Bridge City Public Works Building, 220 Nitsche in Bridge City; First Baptist Church, 11540 State Highway 12 in Mauriceville; and the Raymond Gould Community Center, 385 Claiborne St. in Vidor.
A total of 1,621 ballots have been submitted in the Republican run-off election through the end of early voting on Thursday, July 26. This includes Thursday’s total of 379.
In the Democratic Primary run-off, a total of 381 ballots have been submitted through four days of early voting. A total of 32 ballots were received at the four early voting locations on Thursday.
The Republican ballot has a total of five races in need of a runoff.
The race most people are concerned about in Orange County is for the newly created District 36 seat for United States Representative, which features a run-off between Stephen Takach and Steve Stockman.
Other races include David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz, who are battling it out for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator, while Warren Chisum and Christi Craddick face off for Railroad Commissioner. Greg Parker and Barry Smitherman are facing one another for an unexpired term for Railroad Commissioner. In the race for Supreme Court Justice, Place, 4, John Devine is being contested by David Medina.
The sole runoff race in the Democratic Party is for United States Senator as Paul Sadler faces Grady Yarbrough.
